Like last year, I had the opportunity to shoot one of the biggest gaming events in the world: Blizzcon. Last year I mainly was responsible for the Hearthstone stage, this time I was covering Starcraft 2. People always ask me why I love shooting Starcraft 2, as it is such a boring game, dominated by emotionless Korean pro players. Exactly this is the reason. There is no other game which is so hard to shoot as Starcraft. Getting special and emotional shots of players is way harder than in other games like CS, where you get them every minute.
I started the week with 2 media days, where I had a lot of freedom to play around with the light set up. I let the players pose with flags, which we later implemented into the broadcast. Making Starcraft players looking good is sometimes really hard, I think overall every player looke good in the end.
The next 4 days I shot the group stage in the beautiful studio in Burbank, followed by the main event one week later. The event was really insane and I got so many good shots of all players, it was really hard to get a small selection for this best of.
